LONDON SIGNS & MURALS
A MAJOR REVAMP of this Derelict London website is being written offline using new software which will include lots of new content and photo galleries
along with easier to view galleries of the old content but its all taking months for me to write and uploading of this will not be until at least Easter 2012.
A few new pics will be added to the Derelict London Facebook page in the meantime as I go along.

SHADWELL E1 - CABLE STREET MURAL
The Cable Street mural was painted to celebrate the victory against fascism and the Blackshirts on 4th October 1936. This became known as the Battle of Cable Street. A march by Sir Oswald Moseley's fascist supporters was opposed by many groups and rioting broke out, the worst concentrated on Cable Street. The distrubances led Parliament to pass The Public Order Act 1936, which empowered police to ban demonstrations. The mural was planned in 1979 and finally finished in 1993.
DALSTON - PEACE MURAL
The Dalston Peace Mural opened by GLC's Tony Banks in Oct 85 as amanifestation of Hackney's anti nuclear credentials

GOLBORNE ROAD
I love this tall mural on the side of a restaurant.
Ghost Signs:
A ghost sign is a hand painted on brick wall sign preserved but slowly fading decades after their painting. The durable lead-based paints used in the early to mid-20th century were a major factor in why these have lasted so long
